An Evaluation was undertaken to investigate the impact of the Key Skills Professional Development (KSPD) programme and qualification on the teaching and learning of key skills in Wales. In particular the evaluation investigated the impact of the KSPD programme on: - practitioners’ attitudes to key skills
- how key skills are taught and delivered
- learners’ attitudes to key skills
- learners’ take-up and attainment of key skills
- practitioners’ confidence in assessing key skills

to the positive impact the programme has had on their practice.

The programme, accredited through University of Wales Newport and the University of Glamorgan, is suitable for Key Skills practitioners and managers in schools, FE colleges, work based learning and community education programmes. It can be taken as 2 option modules within PGCE programme or used as CPD suitable for evidence for threshold payments for teachers. A total of 351 teachers and trainers have successfully completed this CPD programme since it was launched in 2004.
