Although the KSSP comes to an end on 31st March 2008, a wide range of resources will continue to be available to practitioners. The KSSP has been funded for 9 years by DIUS (Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills) and its predecessors. The expertise of key skills practitioners, which the KSSP has helped to foster, will remain vital for a successful transition to the new functional skills qualifications and Diplomas. This statement describes future support arrangements. The main key skills qualifications will remain available until at least 2010 (with final accreditation in 2012), at which point the new functional skills qualifications will take their place. The wider key skills qualifications will remain available until at least 2013, when the new entitlement to Diplomas (incorporating PLTS) comes into force. The final KSSP newsletter, to be distributed in March 2008, will be a special edition that highlights the continuing resources available to practitioners to support the delivery of key skills from April onwards. Until 31 March 2008 all current KSSP services will continue to be available. |

Arrangements from 1 April 2008 will be as follows:
- the KS4U student website (http://www.keyskills4u.com/) will continue to be available with no changes.
- all KSSP materials will continue to be available to download electronically from the Quality Improvement Agency Excellence Gateway (http://excellence.qia.org.uk/).
- centre based support will not be continued, so any support you might require will need to be identified through your Regional Support Coordinators and delivered before the end of March 2008.
- key skills networks will hopefully be continued, with a change of focus to preparation for functional skills and PLTS;
- the Helpline (0870 872 8081) will continue to offer support for all 14-19, key skills and functional skills enquiries.

| It is anticipated that the functional skills support programme (FSSP) will deliver a similar programme of support for those involved initially in the functional skills pilots and for all centres from 2010 when full roll out occurs. Materials that have already been developed to support the first pilot centres for functional skills are available at http://excellence.qia.org.uk/functionalskills This however will have a different focus and will not provide the range of support currently available. As the wider key skills are a major source for the personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS) which are embedded in the new Diplomas as well as in the Key Stage 3 curriculum, the materials currently being developed by the Diploma Support Programme (http://www.qia.org.uk/programmesandservices/diplomasupportprogramme.htm) to support the delivery of PLTS will be an additional resource for key skills practitioners. Please contact the helpline (0870 872 8081) or your Regional Support Coordinator for any further information you may require. |
